The Acer Aspire Switch 10 is a Windows tablet with an Intel Bay Trail processor and a keyboard dock that lets you use the system like a notebook. You can also flip the tablet so it faces away from the keyboard if you want to use the base as a stand.

When I reviewed the Aspire Switch 10 recently I found it to be a pretty good little system, although a bit expensive compared to the similar Asus Transformer Book T100 (which gets longer battery life).

But if you were hoping Acer would release a slightly larger 2-in-1 tablet, it looks like there’s one on the way. Several reports this week indicate that Acer is working on an Aspire Switch 11… or possibly on several versions of the Switch 11.

The folks at TabTech found mentions of Acer SW5-111 and SW5-171 tablets in Acer documents. When you look at Acer’s naming conventions for other devices, it seems likely that these tablets will have 11.6 inch screens and that one would feature an Intel Bay Trail processor while the other would have an Intel Haswell chip.

Mobile Geeks did a little more digging and found benchmarks suggesting that the Aspire Switch 11 SW5-111 will have an Intel Atom Z3745 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage, while the Switch 11 SW5-171 will have a faster Intel Core i3-4012Y chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

Both models will have 1366 x 768 pixel displays.

Acer hasn’t officially announced either tablet yet so there’s no word on a price or release date.

  1. The way they design these tablets are awful, it should look like a tablet and not a laptop screen when it’s detached. 16×10 aspect ratio ????
