The Amazon Fire Phone is scheduled to start shipping to customers on July 25th. One of the phone’s most unusual features is a 3D user interface that uses a series of cameras to keep track of what you’re looking at and adjust the display appropriately. Want to do more with the Fire Phone’s “Dynamic Perspective” feature than view a custom wallpapers or maps? Amazon has announced the first two games designed exclusively for the Fire Phone.
To-Fu Fury is a platformer that reveals content you need to progress through the game when you look to the edge of the screen, while Saber’s Edge is a puzzle/matching RPG game which uses Dynamic Perspective effects to let you peek around the corner for ways to extend your matches.
In both cases, developers are basically using Dynamic Perspect effects to accomplish things that you probably could have already done by tapping, swiping, or pinching on a touchscreen display. Hopefully future Kindle Phone exclusives will come up with ways to use the phone’s motion-tracking and gesture-sensing features to let you play games that would be truly impossible on other devices.
The games come out of a partnership between Amazon Game Studios and independent developers.
