HTC has a new smartphone that has the same basic specs as its flagship HTC One M8… but in a waterproof case. The only catch is that you’ll need to be in Japan to buy it.

The HTC J Butterfly is available exclusively from Japanese wireless carrier KDDI.

The phone features a 5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 802.11ac WiFi, 4G LTE, and Android 4.4 KitKat software.

One feature that differs from the HTC One M8 is the rear camera: instead of a dual lens, depth-sensing Ultrapixel camera, the HTC J Butterfly has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

The phone also looks a bit different and has a plastic case that helps with the whole waterproof thing.

One reply on “HTC J Butterfly is basically a waterproof HTC One M8 (for Japan)”

  1. Waterproof plastic case seems better than aluminum case.
My M8 have an aluminum body, too hard to grip, not waterproof, I have to buy one custom plastic case for it from casecoco.com/personalized-cases-for-others/htc-one-m8-casecoco-cases-165. Look better now.
