Hisense is adding another low-cost Android tablet to the Hisense Sero family. The Hisense Sero 7+ showed up at the FCC and WiFi certification sites recently, and it looks like an update to last year’s Hisense Sero 7 LT.
The Hisense Sero 7+ features entry-level specs, and it will probably have an entry-level price. The slightly more powerful (and larger) Hisense Sero 8 sells for just $129.
Here’s what to expect from the Sero 7+ when it hits stores:
- 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display
- 1.2 GHz Rockchip RK3168 ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core CPU
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB storage + microSD card reader for up to 32GB of removable storage
- 802.11n WiFi
- 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera
- 3000mAh battery
- Mono speaker
Last year’s model had the same screen resolution and RAM as the new model, but just 4GB of storage and an older Rockchip RK3066 processor. It also lacked a rear camera.
My Sero 7 Pro is also still kicking. One of many great recommendations I encountered on this blog!
A respectable bump-up for the low-ender, though that resolution is beginning to look a bit dated if I may steal a phrase from our host. 🙂
Meanwhile refurb Sero 7 Pros were selling for 50 bucks the other day!
The 7 pro is still the more desirable one on many levels.
Actually they are still $50 after rebate until the 23rd. Wonder how good it is. Will it run as good as nexus 7? What about nook hd+?
We bought 2 of the refurbed Pros a few months back for us and the mother in law. Been happy but with one problem on both.
Beware
of the USB charging jack / cord, it is a bit loose. Both stopped
charging after about a month, but using a better USB cord (or pinching
the OEM one together) gives a tighter fit and now works. The jack still
feels a bit loose and fragile
This seems to be the biggest complaint (on newegg) and reason for the returns for refurb.
So it is just the charging cord that has problems? Wonder if it will get kitkat, I guess you can root it and install custom rom.
The jack also feels loose on the board, or flexing the board inside. Did not investigate further.
Changing the cord solved it for now.
Have not checked for updates, can’t get it away from my wife or (mainly) my 4 year old. She loves Littlest Pet Shop and My Little Pony!
