The Asus C300 Chromebook is a notebook with a 13.3 inch display, an Intel Celeron N2830 dual-core Bay Trail processor, and Google’s Chrome operating system. It’s basically a slightly larger version of the Asus C200 Chromebook I recently reviewed (and liked) and it sells for the same price.

While the 11.6 inch Asus C200 was the first to go on sale in the United States, a handful of stores are now offering the larger Asus C300 Chromebook for $249 and up.

Asus C300 Chromebook

ExcaliberPC has a list price of $249 for the notebook, which is a bit odd since Amazon is charging $299 for the same machine — but the product page says it’s sold by ExcaliberPC.

Staples is charging $257, and B&H is taking pre-orders for $249.

Each of those models features 2GB of RAM and 16GB of solid state storage, a 1366 x 768 pixel display, WiFi and Bluetooth.

There’s also a model with slightly beefier specs. The Asus C300MA-EDU Chromebook has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and sells for $330. Availability for that model seems to be a bit more limited (or nonexistent) as of mid-July, but Promevo seems to have some in stock.

  1. If i wasnt already deadset on getting the Chromebook 2 13″ , i’d consider this, as 1)it doesnt look like complete junk and 2) dat battery

  2. I bought one today…waiting for it to arrive. I really like the look of this laptop. Hopefully the processor is sufficient for my needs.

  3. Actually Amazon sells it for $249, if you buy it from them and not a third party. Rakuten sells the EDU model for $325.95.

    1. The $249 13″ model at Amazon is 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage (not 4GB/32GB).

  4. 80 clams for 2GB more RAM and 16GB more SD? Good grief. Surely there’s some other difference…tougher case, better hinge, something??

    1. Not necessarily, it’s similar to the increase on smartphones for larger SSD (ludicrously overpriced)
