Google Glass is taking its first steps into international territory. Up until now Google has only invited US residents to participate in its Google Glass Explorer program for folks that want to test pre-release versions of the company’s wearable computer. Now Glass Explorer program is also available to folks in the UK.
If you thought Glass was expensive in the US, where it sells for $1500 though, it’s even more expensive in the UK. Google is offering Glass Explorer kits for £1,000, which is a little over $1700 US.
Google Glass is a device that you wear like a pair of glasses. It puts a small display above your right eye and responds to voice commands and touch input using a touch sensor on the frame You pair Glass with your Android phone to access the internet, allowing you to search the web, make phone calls, view notifications, snap photos, or play games, among other activities.
New apps coming just in time for the UK launch include an app from British newspaper The Guardian and an app from soccer site Goal.com.

Overpriced artificial scarcity goes global!
Congratulations, Greedle…
Maybe those guys can come up with an app for it?
Whats the point making an app when you have all of 2000 users…?
Argh, I want it, but it’s so darned expensive with no guarantee of getting the consumer versions when they come out, it also can’t be fitted to my existing glasses 🙁
I’ll wait for the Moto 360 to test the easy-notifications concept and see what I feel about glass then
Humanity’s subservience to money is a degradation of consciousness.
