The Asus Transformer Book V is an Android phone that becomes a 12.5 inch Android tablet when you attach it to a tablet dock. Add the tablet section to a keyboard dock and it acts as a display for a Windows laptop, although you can also run Android on the laptop if you’d like.
Asus has offered Transformer Book 2-in-1 Windows notebook/tablet devices before, as well as Transformer Pad 2-in-1 Android phone/tablet hybrids. The Transformer Book V bridges the gap between those product lines.
Asus calls the Transformer Book V a 5-mode device, and unlike some companies, Asus isn’t really kidding around. Here are the ways you can use the Transformer Book V:

The phone features a 5 inch IPS HD screen, a 2500mAh battery, an Intel Atom  quad-core Moorefield processor, 2GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, an 8GB rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera,
It features 4G LTE support and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
The tablet works as a Windows 8.1 tablet. Slide the smartphone into a dock in the back and you can switch between Android and Windows with the push of a button. This is kind of surprising since Asus showed off a laptop with similar functionality earlier this year, but has yet to bring to market. Word on the street is that Microsoft put pressure on the company to keep it from shipping a dual OS device of this type.
The tablet features 128GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, Windows 8.1 software, a 12.5 inch HD IPS display, and an Intel Core processor.
Attach the tablet dock and you get up to 1TB of additional storage, plus a QWERTY keyboard, a touchpad and full-sized USB port.

It was also both MS and Google that reportedly put pressure on all their partners to not produce any dual booting devices that ran both W8 and Android…
This product is likely a work around as it’s not dual booting but running Android from the phone… So hybrid Padfone/Transformer Book combo product…

Ahh, but why such pressure at all? I can see why Microsoft is running scared, but is Google worried about ChromeOS being undermined by Android or what?
Neither company wants overlap… They’re both afraid of disrupting their ecosystem… Android apps could slow down the rate of W8 app development, while Windows productivity apps could slow development for any productive Android apps…
They both also want to continue to leverage their platforms to promote their products as they’re competitors and don’t want to blur the lines between what they offer…
Google especially is worried, because they need control to ensure no one else takes over the Android market from them… It’s the down side from basing it on a essentially open system and it’s why they use their proprietary apps and services to pressure system makers to follow their rules so strictly and make it extremely hard to produce their own branch of Android… Amazon is pretty much the only company who have tried and succeeded in making their own successful branch of Android…
Then it looks like there is room for somebody else with deep pockets to take them both on. Windows is diverging from what many users want and Android’s virtue was the lack of Apple-style lockdown. is this where Tizen might come in?
