Don’t need an Android phone that becomes a 12.5 inch Windows notebook? How about a Windows 2-in-1 which splits the difference between a notebook and a tablet?
The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi is a 12.5 inch tablet that becomes a notebook when you attach it to a keyboard docking station.
Oh yeah, and it’s super thin and has a high-resolution display and a fanless design.
The Transformer Book T300 Chi sports a 12.5 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel IPS display, a “next-gen” Intel Core processor, up to 4GB of RAM, and an integrated solid state drive.
The system will be available with Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro software.
Asus says the tablet is the thinnest 12.5 inch model around. The dock measures just under 0.29 inches thick and the tablet is even thinner. Use them together and you’ve got a laptop that’s just about 0.56 inches thick.
The company hasn’t announced a price or release date, but if they’re serious about that “next-gen” processor, the Transformer Book T300 Chi might be scheduled for launch closer to the end of 2014 when Intel’s new Broadwell chips hit the streets. Or maybe Asus just means the new convertible will have a refreshed Haswell processor.
