Here’s a list of devices that will be able to run iOS 8 when the free update is released:

  • iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5s
  • iPod touch 5th generation
  • iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, and iPad Air
  • iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display

Some of the key features in the new operating system include an improved keyboard with predictive text support, an updated Messages app that lets you name group threads, leave threads, or attach voice or video messages, the ability for family members to share downloads between accounts (and receive pop-ups on their own phone when a child wants to make an in-app purchase or other purchase), and App Store improvements.
