In another sign that WQHD is the new 1080p, it looks like yet another smartphone with a 2560 x 1440 pixel display is on the way.
An unannounced smartphone called the Alcatel One Touch D820 showed up at the GFXBench website recently.
If the details at GFXBench are accurate, this phone will have a 4.6 inch, WQHD display, a MediaTek MT6595 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
MediaTeks’ MT6595 chip is an octa-core processor with 4 ARM Cortex-A17 cores and 4 ARM Cortex-A7 cores working together using ARM’s big.LITTLE technology. The chip features PowerVR Series 6 graphics, H.265 video support, and 802.11ac WiFi.
In other words, the high resolution screen may not be the only thing that helps this phone stand out.
According to the benchmarking website, the phone has a 7MP rear camera and a 7MP front camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It’s currently running Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
There’s no word on whether the phone will make to the United States. While Alcatel One Touch isn’t a big name in the States, the company does sell a few handsets through US carriers.
