Chinese startup Xiaomi may be best known for its smartphones. But the company’s lineup also includes TVs, set-to-boxes, and pretty soon tablets.

In each product category, Xiaomi has a habit of offering high-quality hardware at low prices… and the company’s next TV certainly fits the bill. The Mi TV 2 is a 49 inch 3D, Ultra HD television with smart TV features powered by Android and a price tag of about $640.

The TV has a 4K Ultra HD display with 178 degree viewing angles, as well as support for 3D content.

It also sports an MStar 1.45 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with ARM Mali-450 MP4 graphics, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage as well as dual-band 802.11ac WiFi to let you run apps or games or stream online video to the TV using Xiaomi’s custom version of Android 4.3.

Other features include Bluetooth 4.0, 3 HDMI ports, 1 VGA port, SPDIF and AV ports, line output, and an analog TV input. The device has 2 USB ports, a microSD card slot and stereo speakers.

It has a Bluetooth remote control instead of an old-fashioned IR remote, which means you won’t need a direct line of site to control the TV. You can also use a smartphone app to control the TV.

The TV also features a Bluetooth soundbar.

The Mi TV 2 will go on sale in China starting May 27th. It’ll probably never be available outside of Xiaomi’s home country… but it’s yet another demonstration from the company that it’s possible to offer top tier electronics for reasonably low prices.

  1. So the questions are quality, and whether it has any input capable of 60Hz at UHD (because idk if the tuner will work outside of china)
