Sony is adding a new 5 inch smartphone to its lineup. The Sony Xperia ZL2Â is a 5 inch smartphone headed for Japan.
It’s a bit smaller than the 5.2 inch Xperia Z2 introduced earlier this year…Â but otherwise the specs are petty much the same.
The new phone features a 5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a 20.7MP camera, and a waterproof and dustproof design, just like the larger model.
It’s powered by a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and features 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSDXC card slot.
The phone also packs support for 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. It has a 3000mAh battery and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
About the only difference I can find between this phone and the Xperia Z2 (other than the screen size), is that the larger phone has a slightly larger 3200mAh battery.
There’s no word on whether Sony will offer the Xperia ZL2 outside of Japan, where it will be available from wireless carrier KDDI.

You missed the fact that the ZL2 has 32GB on internal memory compared to the Z2’s 16. Also the dimensions are a little smaller but the Z2 is also thicker.
Sony got the clue, the first company to realize that not everyone wants bigger screens going along with top tier hardware…
