Sony is adding a new 5 inch smartphone to its lineup. The Sony Xperia ZL2 is a 5 inch smartphone headed for Japan.
It’s a bit smaller than the 5.2 inch Xperia Z2 introduced earlier this year… but otherwise the specs are petty much the same.
The new phone features a 5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a 20.7MP camera, and a waterproof and dustproof design, just like the larger model.
It’s powered by a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and features 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSDXC card slot.
The phone also packs support for 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. It has a 3000mAh battery and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
About the only difference I can find between this phone and the Xperia Z2 (other than the screen size), is that the larger phone has a slightly larger 3200mAh battery.
There’s no word on whether Sony will offer the Xperia ZL2 outside of Japan, where it will be available from wireless carrier KDDI.
