As expected, PocketBook is giving its latest eBook reader an unusual feature: a camera.

The PocketBook Ultra should be available in Russia in July, where it will sell for the equivalent of about $260. It’s a 6 inch eReader with an E Ink display and the ability to let you snap photos and scan them as documents thanks to the camera on the back of the device.

The Pocketbook Ultra features an E Ink Carta display with a resolution of 1024 x 758 pixels, or 212 pixels per inch. It has a touchscreen display and LED illumination for reading in the dark.

Under the hood, the device features a 1 GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 1500mAH battery. It supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi. There’s a microSD card slot if you need more storage space. I

The Ultra runs a Linux-based operating system and supports a wide range of picture and text formats including EPUB, PDF, TXT, HTML, DOCX, JPG, PNG, BMP, and TIFF. It can also play MP3 audio files.

The 5MP camera on the back features autofocus and flash. While snapping photos might seem like an odd feature for a device with a 16 shade grayscale display, the idea isn’t to use your eReader as a point-and-shoot camera replacement. Instead you can take a picture of documents and use OCR (optical character recognition) software to convert them into text files which you can read on the device or send to a cloud storage service such as Dropbox.
