LG plans to launch its first smartwatch by this summer, and the company is providing a few more details about its upcoming watch powered by Google’s Android Wear platform.

The LG G Watch will have a water and dust resistant design, it’ll come in black or gold (with black or white wristbands), and the watch has a “screen that never sleeps.”

While LG won’t be the first company to release a smartwatch, it looks like the G Watch will be one of the first models with a color display that doesn’t turn off after a moment of inactivity.

The Pebble Smartwatch has an always-on screen, but Pebble uses a low-power E Ink display which only uses power when the screen is refreshed. That helps Pebble’s watches get around a week of battery life. It remains to be seen how long the LG G Watch will last between charges, but either this watch has an enormous battery or it probably has one that you’ll have to charge more than once a week.

LG’s watch, along with the upcoming Motorola Moto 360 will be among the first devices powered by Android Wear. The software is designed to pair with your smartphone and display notifications and other information such as directions when you’re most likely to need it. The watch also features Google’s voice recognition capabilities, letting you search the web, schedule calendar appointments, or make a call by starting a command with “OK Google.”

The LG G Watch is expected to launch by July and it’s expected to sell for under $300 in the UK. There’s no word on US pricing yet.
