Elite Computer Systems started showing off a reference design for an 8 inch Android tablet with an Intel Atom Z3735E Bay Trail processor at Mobile World Congress. Now it looks like that tablet could be headed to the United States.

The ECS TA80TA1 passed through the FCC website this week.

ECS is an Original Equipment Manufacturer, which means the company typically manufacturers hardware for other companies. So when you buy an ECS product it usually has another company’s name on it. Unfortunately the FCC documents don’t make it clear whether ECS actually has a hardware partner for its tablet. The only brand I see is ECS.

Still, the documents give us a slightly better look at the tablet.

It’s expected to feature an Atom Z37353E quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 1280 x 800 pixel display. It has a micro USB port, microSD card slot, and micro HDMI port.

Thanks to the FCC, we can see some of those components on the motherboard, along with a 4150mAh battery, front and rear cameras, and stereo speakers on the back of the tablet.

There’s no word on how much the tablet will cost, or what name it will be sold under if and when it goes on sale in the States.

  1. 1280 x 800 pixel display? Wow how two years ago.
Is this the new offerings Intel spoke of? I predict another big year of Google
growth in the phone and tablet space. I guess Intel/MS cant really compete.

    1. They can, it just looks like they don’t want to.
Is not like the system can’t drive a better display either.
Just look at the Dell Venue Pro 11. That thing has a great HD panel in it.

    2. There’s still plenty of devices with that resolution… even from ARM device makers!

Mind, they’re trying to reach really low and competitive pricing, with even Windows devices supposedly being able to reach the $99-$129 range, with some rumor that it might go as low as $60!

Besides, it’s the device makers setting these specs for the screen, etc. and many of them still need convincing that Intel devices will sell well before they invest in more premium parts…
