Google’s Chrome OS has received a minor update that makes multitasking a bit easier. You could already resize and rearrange browser windows to view multiple apps or pages side-by-side.

But now if you’re running a small app like Hangouts or Google Keep, you can simply drag it to the side of your screen to dock it and automatically resize other browser windows.

This lets you keep a chat window open, for example, while surfing the web, watching videos, or playing games.

Sure, you could already have done this by manually resizing a few windows, but the new automatic resizing and docking tool lets you set things up with a simple drag-and-drop.

The result is something that looks a bit like Windows 8, which has been offering users the ability to “snap” multiple Windows Store apps together in this way since the operating system launched in 2012.
