T-Mobile has been making a series of announcements aimed at changing the way customers pay for voice, text, and data plans. This week the company already launched a new Simple Starter plan that lets you get unlimited talk and text plus 500MB of 4G data for just $40 per month (not counting the cost of your phone).
Now T-Mobile is taking aim at the fees you usually pay for adding tablets to your phone plan. Starting April 12th if you add a tablet to your voice plan, you’ll get 1GB of free data through the end of the year.
New customers get 1GB of free 4G LTE data each month through the end of 2014. After that, T-Mobile is only promising 200MB of free 4G data per month.
If you’re an existing customer, T-Mobile will offers a $10 credit in order to get the same deal.
T-Mobile will let you bring an existing 4G LTE capable tablet, buy a new one, or trade in a WiFi-only tablet for a model that works on T-Mobile’s LTE network. The carrier sells tablets including the Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. Apple iPad Air, and Apple iPad with Retina Display.
