Acer’s new 10 inch tablet is also a 10 inch tablet… and display device. Acer calls the Aspire Switch 10 a 4-in-1 device which you can use in laptop, tablet, tent and display mode.

That’s because it’s basically a 10 inch Windows tablet with a detachable keyboard base. Acer’s very proud of the magnetic hinge that lets the tablet snap into place and stay there — and which allows you to have the screen face forward or back.

The Aspire Switch 10 has dual front-facing speakers, an IPS display for wide viewing angles, and the system is powered by an Intel Atom Bay trail processor.

Display mode comes into play when you flip around the display so it’s facing away from the keyboard, essentially turning the keyboard dock into a stand.

For some reason Acer thinks you might also want to use “tent mode” which involves twisting the screen back about 300 degrees and propping the system up like a tent. That doesn’t seem particularly necessary when you’ve already got a display mode, but Lenovo has tent mode for its Yoga tablets, so I guess it makes sense for Acer to have a tent mode too.

Other specs are to include a 1366 x 768 pixel display, up to 64GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Windows 8.1.

  1. 4 GB and 64-bit support please. Also, does the keyboard dock have a secondary battery?

  2. Seems great, but personally I can’t deal with a screen smaller than 11.6″

  3. Do you have a preference of this versus the ASUS T100a? Specs the same, but the bezel looks a bit smaller. How does the keyboard and screen compare?
