Asus is working on at least three new Android tablets with low-end specs. Details about the unannounced 7, 8, and 10 inch tablets popped up recently at the Bluetooth and WiFi certification websites, painting a picture of several new affordable tablets which could be part of the company’s MeMo Pad lineup.

Prices, pictures, and launch dates aren’t available, but here’s what we know about the new tablets so far:

  • Asus K013: 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4, and front and rear cameras
  • Asus K011: 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4, and front and rear cameras
  • Asus K010: 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4 and front and rear cameras

There’s no word on what kind of processors the new tablets will feature. The IPS displays mean each tablet should have decent viewing angles, and the 1280 x 800 pixel resolution displays should look reasonably sharp on the 7 and 8 inch tablets.

It’s not a bad display resolution for a 10 inch tablet either… but at a time when full HD or higher-resolution screens are becoming common on larger tablets (and even many smartphones), the 1280 x 800 pixel 10 inch display might seem kind of underwhelming.

Hopefully Asus makes the tablets more attractive by keeping the prices low.

  1. So these will not let the User store to the SD Card? Or maybe the SD Card slot is gone all together now/ Either way it is a deal killer.

  2. Not just underwhelming at 1280 x 800 for a 10 inch tablet, it means no sale for many, me included. 1600 x 900 should be minimum for this size. When will the manufacturers get it together?

      1. It seems there are only budget and high-end tablets. What about something in the midrange?
