Google positions its Chromecast device as a cheap and easy way to stream internet video to your TV. But ever since the company released an official SDK for the device, developers have been coming up with other ways to use a Chromecast, including video games, drawing apps, and more.
Now Google is getting in on the action. The company’s latest Chromecast-compatible app is called PhotoWall for Chromecast.
The app is available for iOS, Android, and the web.
Install the free app on your mobile device, and anyone connected to your Chromecast can send photos to your TV to create an interactive slideshow. Users can also draw on the photos or add text.
When you’re done the app will automatically create a YouTube video which lets you share the results with anyone, whether they have a Chromecast or not.
The official description for PhotoWall refers to it as a Chrome Experiment, so it’s not clear how much support this app will get in the future or if we should expect other Chromecast apps from Google. But it looks like third-party developers aren’t the only ones coming up with new ways to use Chromecast.
