As promised, ZTE is launching next-gen phones featuring Firefox OS software. The ZTE Open II is an entry-level device that represents a minor spec bump over the company’s first Firefox handset, while the ZTE Open C has a bigger screen, better display, and more memory.

By the end of the year ZTE also plans to launch its first Firefox OS phone with a 4.5 inch screen, possibly based on Mozilla’s new Firefox OS Flame reference design.

ZTE Open II

The ZTE Open II is very much an entry-level smartphone, featuring a 3.5 inch, 480 x 320 pixel touchscreen display, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core processor, 256MB of RAM and 2GB of storage.

The phone has an 1150mAh battery and a 2MP camera, and features HSPA+ cellular capabilities.

While the specs are pretty basic, the phone is actually a step up from the original ZTE Open, which had 256MB of RAM, 512MB of storage, and a single-core CPU.

ZTE Open C

The Open C isn’t going to win any prizes for speed, performance, or display resolution either. But as Firefox OS phones go, it’s a bit more powerful than most devices that were launched in 2013.

This model features a 4 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, a Snapdragon 200 dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. It has a 3MP camera and 1400mAh battery, and like its little sibling features HSPA+ connectivity.
