Asus is introducing two new versions of its FonePad 7, the Android tablet you can use as a phone… or vice versa.

The new FonePad 7 LTE ME372CL features support for 4G LTE networks, while the FonePad 7 ME175CG is a dual-SIM model for use in markets where customers regularly need to connect to multiple wireless networks.

For the most part the new tablets are a lot like the original 3G FonePad 7. They each feature Intel processors, 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel displays, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.

While these devices are awfully big for phones, they’re not big on high-end specs… which makes sense, because they also don’t have high-end price tags. Prices for the new models haven’t been announced yet, but the original Fonepad 7 sells for around $300 without a contract (in the markets where it’s available).

The new models feature stereo front-facing speakers, 3950mAh batteries, 5MP rear cameras, and 1.2MP front-facing cameras. For some reason the LTE model has the same Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ processor as the original FonePad 7, while the dual SIM model has a slower 1.2 GHz Atom Z2520 CPU.

One reply on “Asus FonePad 7 inch phone/tablet gets LTE, dual-SIM options”

  1. Why the devil can’t we get LTE AND dual SIM capability in any of these cursed tablets or phones?

    This is retarded!

Its not like people who need 2 SIM cards have no interest in better speeds :/
