There are a growing number of devices designed to let you turn stream internet video to you TV, stream content from your phone to a TV, or generally turn your TV into a media center. The folks behind the Xtreamer Multi-Console are positioning their product as a device that can do just about everything.

The Xtreamer is basically an Android TV box that comes with an awful lot of software pre-loaded, letting you use the system as a game console, media center, media extender, and more.

Xtreamer Multi-Console

In terms of hardware, it looks a lot like the Minix Neo X7 or Rikomagic MK902, but what might set it apart is about the software.

The Xtreamer device comes with XBMC media center and features support for Apple Airplay technology with the Airpin app for Android, features the CheapCast app which lets you use the it as a Chromecast, and it supports DLNA and Miracast wireless display technology.

It also has DroidMote Server, letting you use your Android smartphone or tablet as a remote control. AirDroid lets you manage data on your device from a PC, and PushBullet software lets you see your phone’s notifications on your TV.

The device also comes pre-rooted, with ClockworkMod Recovery installed.

The Xtreamer Multi-Console has a Rockchip RK3188 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, 10/100 Ethernet, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and an SD card slot. It comes with a wireless air mouse.

You can pick one up for 129 Euros (about $176)… or you can pretty much build your own buy installing an awful lot of apps on a cheaper Android TV box.

thanks Clive!

  1. The xtreamer mc keeps the HDD connected to it spinning even when it is turned off.
No solution provided. Bought one and sold it before having to buy new HDDs.

  2. Not a bad box above, but my history with Rockchips isn’t very good. I purchased a quad core box with the same specs as above figuring that it would be faster than the dual core that we currently have. Wrong. No where even close to as fast. Check out this Android TV Box, it’s a dual core running Gotham. Fully loaded and ready to go. Or you can check it out on Amazon here Android TV Box.

  3. Are the days of Google TV with HDMI pass-through gone?

  4. a minix developer declared on their forum that the hardware is built by them, firmware inside xtreamer update package is named “2014-1-7_x7mini_6330 Xtreamer 720p.img”
so if you want it cheaper just buy a minix x7-mini.

  5. wow, there are a dozen devices out there with the exact same specs that sell for less than $100. And XBMC doesn’t support hardware acc. decoding of HD videos on rockchip devices…so I’m not sure this company is bringing that much more to the table with their software either.

    Meh.

  6. What the What! $176 for a $53 Box What a waste of coin. So many great rom’s for supper cheap boxes that break in 3-6 months can be found on freaktab .

    1. Do you have a link to a $53 device that shares the same hardware with the Xtreamer?
      Rockchip RK3188
      2GB of RAM,
      16GB of storage,
      802.11n WiFi,
      Bluetooth 4.0,
      HDMI,
      10/100 Ethernet,
      2 USB 2.0 ports,
      SD card slot.

      1. I know it’s only a small point, but it has dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) WiFi.
Instead of fighting with your neighbors for the 3 non-overlapping channels on 2.4 GHz why not have your own channel all to yourself up on 5 GHz?

      2. The photos show an optical audio output as well as the air remote…. Price seems just a little steep, but this a nicely configured little box. it would be nice if the remote had a mic for voice input (with better functionality than my Probox2which is crap)….

  7. $176 !, As the priest said to the nun, come again.

Probably about double what an equivelant specked PC stick and remote would cost.

    1. It’s a real antenna, and beats the pants off of the performance you’d see with it mounted internally.
RF performance is an area where you simply can’t have it all.
External antennas equal better wireless performance, no matter the design of the antenna itself.
