Chinese phone maker ZTE may be getting ready to show off its first smartphone powered by Tizen Linux, but one of the operating system’s key backers says the launch of its first Tizen smartphones has been pushed back.

Japanese wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo recently announced it was putting its Tizen launch plans on hold. Now a Samsung official tells Tizen Indonesia that launch plans in Korea and Russia have also been pushed back.

The goal had been to launch Tizen devices in those three countries during the first half of 2014. Now it looks like it could take a bit longer for Samsung to bring its Tizen handsets to market.

I guess folks who really want to get their hands on a device powered by the Linux-based operating system can always buy a Samsung NX300M camera. It’s been available since late 2013 and it’s powered by a version of the same operating system being developed for phones, tablets, and other devices.
