The Lenovo Yoga 2 11 convertible is an 11.6 inch touchscreen laptop that becomes a tablet when you fold back the display 360 degrees so that it’s resting behind the keyboard. Lenovo’s Yoga line of laptop/tablet hybrids has been available for a few years, but the Yoga 2 is the cheapest model so far to ship with Windows 8.1 (rather than Windows RT).

Best Buy is now selling a model with an Intel Pentium Bay Trail processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive for $500.

Update: As of January 30th, 2014, Best Buy has removed the product page for the Yoga 2 11.

Update 2: The Lenovo Yoga 2 11 is now officially available in the US for $520 and up.

Lenovo Yoga 2 11

This model features an Intel Pentium N3510 chip with a TDP of 7.5W. It’s based on the same architecture as Intel’s latest Atom chips, but this 2 GHz quad-core processor uses a bit more power, offers a bit more performance, and supports up to 8GB of RAM. The system features Intel HD graphics.

Thanks to the low-power chip, the Yoga 2 11 doesn’t generate a lot of heat, and can use passive cooling. That means there are no noisy fans in the case. There are two speaker grills on the bottom of the case which look like vents, but they’re not.

The Lenovo Yoga 2 11 has a 1366 x 768 pixel touchscreen display, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port, an SD card reader, 720p camera, and micro HDMI port.

You don’t get a free copy of Microsoft Office with this model (it’s a bit too big to qualify for the free Office Home & Student license that you get with some small and inexpensive Windows tablets). But you do get Windows 8.1 64-bit and a 30-day trail of Office 2013.

The notebook measures 11.7″ x 8.1″ x 0.7″ and weighs about 2.9 pounds. That makes it a bit big and heavy for a tablet, but pretty small for a laptop… especially one which you can also use as a tablet.

You can check out my hands-on video with the Yoga 2 11 from CES in the video below (it also includes a look at the new Yoga 2 13 convertible which should be available soon for around $1000).

  1. Is yoga 11s with i5 haswell processor worth the 300 usd than the new one with intel pentium processor? Is there a significant difference in battery life

  2. I called Best Buy and they didn’t have any record of this product. It just disappeared from the website and the inventory. It’s not even on Lenovo’s website. Is there an issue with it?

  3. Page has now shifted to OOS with no mention of price. Did Best Buy jump the gun in announcing the price??

  4. I guess my definition of available isn’t same since it it’s for sale yet on Best Buy’s Webite, only listed as coming soon.

  5. The size of the bezel is just a joke… All that for a big Lenovo sticker ! Hey Lenovo, just look a bit at what LG is doing.

  6. Converted into EUropean prices this _should_ cost around 350 – 400€, but as usual the price will probably be around 550 – 599€ – no deal – i’d like to say a big fuck you to all EU sellers beforehand..

  7. In the UK, “Very” is selling it for £599!!! WTF

Even after 20% VAT is added it should only be £363.

  8. I think this is better than Lenovo Flex 10. But I like my Flex 10 and free MS Office as well.

    1. Acer/gateway have a 10 inch touchscreen laptop with touchscreen. dual core 1.46GHz celeron baytrail.
Dell’s venue 11 comes close, as the asus is 10.1 and the venue 11 is 10.8 inches.

      1. Eew, Acer. I guess if I want my notebook to last longer than a year, I have to get the ASUS or Dell. I’ll look to see which one has the smallest footprint. Maybe the Dell has smaller bezels.

        1. Acer – is like a cockroach. they use cheap materials but they last.

My last lenovo was a poor experience – they bolt the screens in place with the screws running along the pane. This puts excess stress on the screen.I was picking up my laptop and heard the screen crack. This is an x121e – 11.6 inch. generally smaller laptops will handle their own weight better, but due to design, this screen cracked under very minor strain. Lenovo was charging $500+ for replacement (laptop was under a month old). After complaining to a supervisor, it dropped to ~$350. I ended up buying a screen from laptopscreen.com and replacing it myself for $53.The screen fits snug into a frame already, so screws were superfluous. instead I used a dab of hot glue to keep it from shifting.

          1. I guess Lenovo really is bringing down the ThinkPad. They color a notebook black and call it a ThinkPad.

    1. As far as I know, it does not (soldered on board). Battery life is quoted as 6 hours.
