Chinese manufacturer 51Cube is ready to jump into the Windows 8 convertible fray. Their newly-announced iwork 10 is a dockable tablet that follows in the footsteps of the Microsoft Surface and Asus Transformer Book T100.
Like the Transformer Book, the iwork 10 ships with an Intel Bay Trail Atom processor. It’s clocked at 1.8GHz and should offer a decent mix of performance and efficiency. Similarities to the T100 don’t stop there: the iwork 10 also features 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, an IPS display, and HDMI output.
It’s worth noting that the iwork 10 uses the Atom Z3740D, which has a TDP of 2.2W to the Z3740’s (used in the T100) 2W. It also supports DDR3-1333 RAM and a GPU with a slightly higher clock speed.
The iwork 10 is also quite a bit thinner than the Transformer Book T100. In fact, at 6.9mm it’s actually thinner than the iPad Air.
Update: It looks like the tablet is actually 10.4mm thick. The official spec sheet also mentions a 1280 x 800 pixel display and up to 8 hours of battery life. There’s also support for an optional 3G USB dongle.
Clipping on the keyboard and trackpad dock/cover adds a bit of bulk, obviously, but it might not be any thicker than the T100 in tablet mode (which measures about 10mm).
51Cube hasn’t announced pricing or availability for the iwork 10 yet, but similar tablets sell for between $350 and $400.
You’ll probably have to look to sites like Aliexpress, Geekbuying, or Pandawill if you want to pick one up. It’s hard to imagine this thing going on sale outside China, at least as long as it bears the name iwork.

What is the battery life?
6-8 hours, according to 51Cube.
I’m surprised! That’s right up there with the big boys.
Dont trust chinese specs. 6.9mm is most likely at the corners.
The display resolution is 1280×800. And it supports external 3G dongle only. See full specification here (Google Translate required): https://51cube.net/ch/ProductSizeShow.asp?ID=262
That website says the thickness is 10.4mm which more accurately matches the photo above.
if the tablet is the one shown opened in their site video, it has two 3590mah batteries inside.
Any ideas what the display resolution is?
I see “1080p” in one of the graphics, but it’s not one of the highlighted specs (unlike “IPS”).
I agree with the “outside of China” thought with an “iwork” name. Sheesh, that is treading dangerously past the trademark line. Curious what the guts are. I have been pretty happy with my Dell Venue 8 Pro, but always looking for options.
