Looking for a last-minute gift for a reader? Target is selling the Barnes & Noble NOOK Simple Touch for $39, and you can pick it up in-store today, which means you don’t have to wait for Santa shipping.

The NOOK Simple Touch isn’t B&N’s latest eReader, and it doesn’t have a backlight, like some newer models. But it has a high-contrast grayscale display, up to 2 months of battery life, 2GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot in case you need more.

At $39, it’s one of the cheapest eReaders around, and even if you’re not a fan of Barnes & Noble, you can use the device to read books from other stores, as long as they’re either DRM-free EPUB or PDF files, or books that use Adobe’s DRM. It also makes a good device for reading books checked out from libraries that user OverDrive.
