The Dell XPS 12 is a laptop that you can use like a tablet, or maybe a tablet that functions as a laptop. Either way, it’s a portable PC with a 12.5 inch 1080p touchscreen display, an Intel Haswell processor, and a list price of $1000 and up.

But the Microsoft Store is currently offering a model with a Core i5 Haswell processor, 4GB of memory, 128GB of storage, and 8.5 hours of battery life for just $799. I’m awfully tempted to pick one up to take with me to CES in January since the battery life on my ultrabook is fading fast… but I’m kind of put off by the lack of SD card and Ethernet ports.

Anyway, if those omissions don’t bother you, it’s hard to beat the price.

  1. The novelty of the flipping top doesn’t make up for the abysmal collection of ports.

  2. I owned the i7 version of the XPS12…it was so buggy and crash-prone that it was returned within a week.

  3. Good price on the Asus TF700… but they don’t even have an option for the keyboard dock? That’s what makes it such a worthwhile 10″ tablet.
