The Asus Transformer Book T100TA is an inexpensive 10 inch Windows tablet with an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor and a detachable keyboard which lets you use it like a laptop. It has long battery life, decent performance, and it’s probably one of my favorite devices of all the products I’ve reviewed in 2013.
Now it looks like the tablet might have a Android-powered cousin.
Asus has been offering 10 inch Android tablets with detachable keyboards for years as part of its Transformer Pad lineup. There’s nothing new there. But a new product that showed up at the WiFi Alliance site suggests that the company could be working on a device that’s more like the Transformer Book T100TA than it is like a Transformer Pad.
It’s a new device with the model number T100TC, and it’s currently running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. That’s about all we know about the tablet at this point, other than the fact that it supports 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, WiFi-Direct, and Miracast wireless display technology.
The model number seems to indicate it’ll share some DNA with the latest 10 inch Windows tablet — but it’s not clear if that means it’ll have the same 10 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Intel Atom Z3740 processor and 2GB of RAM.

Think it was $330 or so at Bestbuy when I bought a T100 for my dad, and there’s really pretty much nothing else out there that’s comparable (detachable Windows notebook) at that price point. Tack on 50-80 bucks and add Android dual-boot and I’ll buy 2 more.
for me it is tack on $100 and add a wacom digitizer and you’ve got my ideal computer.
My buddy got one. The screen is very dim, and the processor is a bit under powered unless you are just doing simple things; like web surfing. it’s a great value for the price, but the display was the deal breaker for me and I opted for the TF700, with it’s own set of design issues..
If it’s an Android only device, I’ll be a little disappointed…I wanna see them take this Windows form factor and RUN with it. It’s what the tablet market desperately needs, tablets that can do REAL work.
Also, their (possible) 8 inch tablet with Wacom stylus would be a beef up to the lineup of Windows devices. Very good chance that over the next two years Windows will be the big growth OS in mobile.
hoping they do one that dual-boots windows and Android
