Amazon is offering all WiFi Kindle Fire HDX 7 inch tablets for $50 off through the end of Cyber Monday, December 2nd, 2013. That means you can get a 16GB model for $179.

Or if you don’t need a full HD display, you can also save on the Kindle Fire HD. Amazon’s offering the 16GB model for $119, which is also $50 off the usual price. Interestingly, the 8GB Kindle Fire HD is not on sale, which means it actually costs more money at the moment.

Update: The $119 Kindles are gone, but you can still score a cheap Kindle Fire HDX.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7

The Kindle Fire HD features a 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1.5 GHz TI OMAP 4 dual-core processor. WiFi, and up to 10 hours of battery life. It doesn’t have a camera or microphone. It weighs 12.2 ounces and measures 0.42 inches thick.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX is a little thinner and lighter, at 0.35 inches thick and 10.7 ounces. But it has a faster 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU, a higher resolution 1920 x 1200 pixel display, up to 11 hours of battery life, a front-facing camera, up to 64GB of built-in storage, and optional 4G LTE connectivity (although the 4G models aren’t included in the Cyber Monday sale).

Here’s a run-down of prices through December 2nd:

  • Amazon Kindle Fire HD w/16GB for $119 ($50 off)
  • Amazon Kindle Fire HD w/8GB for $139
  • Amazon Kindle Fire HDX w/16GB for $179
  • Amazon Kindle Fire HDX w/32GB for $229
  • Amazon Kindle Fire HDX w/64GB for $259

Add $15 to any price if you want a model without “special offers,” or advertisements on the home screen.

None of the tablets feature a microSD card slot for extra storage space, and none feature the Google Play Store. But if you’re comfortable with Amazon’s ecosystem (or with hacking your tablet to make it do more than the manufacturer intended), it’s hard to find other tablets with these specs at these prices.
