It’s hard to find a big name piece of consumer electronics that doesn’t have a Chinese knockoff. Shenzhen markets are littered with cheap iPads, Macbooks, and other products. But the C1 certainly doesn’t look cheap… if it’s real.

A member of the imp3 forum has uploaded an image promising an iPad mini-sized tablet with the specs of a Microsoft Surface Pro 2… and then some.

The tablet reportedly features an Intel Core i5-4200u processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 2048 x 1536 pixel display, and Windows 8.1 Pro software in a case that weighs just 14 ounces.

There’s no word on price… or actual photos of the product. So it’s a bit early to claim that it’s a real thing. But I’ve learned it’s never a good idea to bet against the crazy Chinese tablet knockoff artists.

  1. The battery life may not be very big, but I’m very interested in this. I can very much respect Apple for their design language, but this has internals that totally beat the iPad Mini. I’m in, so long as it’s not ridiculously priced

  2. That’s exactly what i’m waiting for. Shame with haswell and this kind of weight the battery life would be too short.

    1. haswell is more power-efficient than Ivy Bridge. Haswell probably wouldn’t be the culprit of poor battery life. Chances are it would be the ultra-high-resolution display and a small battery.
