HP and Google have temporarily stopped selling the HP Chromebook 11 after learning that a small number of users reported that their chargers were damaged from overheating while in use.
Google’s taking the unusual step of recommending that folks who already have a Chromebook 11 stop using the charger that came in the box, and instead use a third party micro USB charger. If you’ve got a phone or tablet charger, there’s a good chance it’ll work with the Chromebook.
That’s one of the nice things about using a laptop that charges via a micro USB port. It’s even nicer when those chargers don’t overheat.
Google does suggest you make sure to use a charger that’s listed with Underwriters Laboratories.

Earlier today The Verge reported that Best Buy stores were pulling all HP Chromebook 11 units from store shelves. Now we know why.
