Asus recently launched a new Transformer Pad Infinity TF701T Android tablet with a 10 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel display and an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor.

But if you’re not comfortable spending $449 on an Android tablet, it looks like Asus may have a cheaper option on the way.

Asus Transformer Pad TF502T

Tablets Magazine reports the upcoming Asus Transformer Pad TF502T will feature a Tegra 3 processor, a 1366 x 768 pixel display, and 2GB of RAM.

That gives it more memory than many earlier Transformer Pad tablets, but a lower resolution display and slower CPU than the latest high-end tablets from Asus. While pricing hasn’t been announced yet, it’s probably safe to bet that this model will be cheaper than the Infinity line.

Asus is expected to offer the TF502T with a choice of 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage. Both models will feature USB, microSD card, and HDMI ports, an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera and WiFi and Bluetooth. The tablets have four speakers, enabling stereo sound whether you’re holding the device in portrait or landscape orientation.

Like other members of the Asus Transformer family, the tablet gets its name from an optional keyboard dock that lets you use the tablet like a notebook. The dock also has its own battery, and when you use the tablet and keyboard together you should be able to get up to 16 hours of battery life.

  1. I’ll pass if it at least had tegra 4 I would consider it but the way it is now makes it seem worthless.

  2. I’m actually looking forward to this model. UH resolution display on 10″ tablet is, in my opinion, nonsense. It only drains battery faster and performance down. TF502 is what i need, tablet with lot of ram, battery life and decent display and computing power.

  3. I see almost no difference from the TF300, besides an updated camera… This will be a very inexpensive tablet. I wish that it said Tegra 4 though…
