Google’s Chromecast device for streaming internet video to your TV has been available in the US for a few months, but up until now if you wanted to get one in any other country you had to have a friend in the States or pay a hefty price to pick one up from eBay or another resale marketplace.

Now Amazon is accepting orders for Chromecasts in the UK, parts of Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, and other locations.

Update: Well, it was nice while it lasted, but Amazon’s no longer shipping Chromecast units internationally.

Chromecast

Android Central reports that the prices are about the same no matter what country you’re ordering from. The Chromecast costs about $35, give or take a buck worldwide. But shipping is more expensive to some countries than others.

The Chromecast is a small device that you can plug into the HDMI port on your television in order to stream video from YouTube, Hulu Plus, Netflix, and other supported channels to your big screen, using your phone, tablet, or PC as a remote control.

Right now there are only a couple of video services that work with the Chromecast, but a number of developers are working on apps that will extend its capabilities once the Google Cast SDK goes public and they’re allowed to release those apps.

  1. Just pair up a mini pc.
They will sell them to anybody anywhere and do what you want and more.

  2. Amazon cancelled my order because they couldn’t ship to my address. Looks like they’re not going to ship outside the US after all

  3. Yeah, I live in Asia – so none of the content I want to see will be available in my area. Idiots. I would pay them real money for access to content, but they won’t allow it.

  4. Price tag from Amazon UK is £60, where conversion plus VAT gives £26 or so. I’m really very confused about this massive price difference between US and UK
