Google plans to offer Google Glass to the masses in 2014 as an affordable, wearable device. Right now you can only get your hands on one if you work for Google, or have $1500 to spend and an acquaintance willing to share an invitation.
So if you’re willing to drop $1500 on what’s essentially beta hardware of a wearable computer, you might not mind spending $50 on an extra earbud or charger — which is exactly how much Google is charging now that the company is selling Google Glass accessories.
Hopefully the prices will drop by the time Glass goes on sale to the public.
For now, an extra pouch will run you $50, and the only item that’s actually in stock is a “Clear Shield” which sells for $75 and looks like a pair of clip-on glasses that you can use with the new second-generation Google Glass hardware.
Eventually you’ll probably also be able to buy a sunglasses accessory and the latest Glass hardware is also supposed to work with prescription lenses.
You’ll need to be a member of the Google Glass Explorer program in order to access the store.
