Amazon’s Kindle MatchBook program is now live, which means if you buy select books from Amazon.com you qualify to pick up a digital copy of the same book for $2.99 or less.

The company unveiled the program in September, and Amazon has spent the last few months getting authors and publishers on board. At launch, about 70,000 books are part of the Kindle MatchBook.

Kindle MatchBook titles will be available for $2.99, $1.99, $0.99 or free. The idea is that you can buy a paper copy of the book to read or stick on your shelf, and for a low price you can read the same book on your Kindle, smartphone, tablet, or other device.

It’s a lot simpler than buying or building your own book scanner to make digital copies of your own books.

To find out if any books you’ve already purchased qualify, you can sign into Amazon, visit amazon.com/kindlematchbook and hit the “Find your Kindle MatchBook titles” button to see any available offers. Any eligible books you’ve purchased since 1995 should be show up.
