Australian retailer Kogan has introduced its second smartphone, and like the first it’s an Android phone with decent specs and a dirt-cheap price.
The Kogan Agora 5.0 quad-core is available for pre-order for $189, and as the name suggest, it has a 5 inch display and a quad-core processor.
Specifically, you’re looking at a handset with a 1.2 GHz MediaTek quad-core chip, a 1280 x 720 pixel IPS display, has a 2000mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera, and a 2MP front-facing camera. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The phone has 1GB of RAM, but just 4GB of built-in storage. There’s a microSD card slot if you need extra space.
Kogan is offering this phone unlocked in Australia, the UK, and the US. The phone supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and HSDPA/HSUPA networks with 850/1900/2100 bands. That means it should work on AT&T or T-Mobile networks in the US.

It lacks the 1700/2100 AWS frequencies for T-Mobile’s 3G/HSPA+ 4G so unless you’re in an area where they’ve already refarmed 3G to AT&T bands, you’ll be stuck on EDGE speeds.
The 4GB builtin storage is a pisser. But it does have a microsd slot so at least it’s not stuck.
Blinkin’ ‘eck that looks good. If Kogan are decent, that’s killer.
