HP appears to be working on a new 10 inch tablet which may be called the HP Omni 10. Documents filed with the FCC include a drawing of the back of a device which has the HP logo in the center, the Omni 10 name below it, and “HP Slate” written on the label.

HP Omni 10

The name suggests we’re looking at a 10 inch tablet, but other than that all we know for certain is that the device has 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, a rear camera, a headset jack, and volume buttons.

It’s not clear if we’re looking at an Android tablet, a Windows machine, or something else.

HP recently launched a 10 inch Android tablet called the HP Slatebook x2. It’s a $479 tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, a full HD display, and a detachable keyboard which lets you use the system like a notebook.

The company also sells a line of Windows 8 tablets with 10 inch screens under the ElitePad brand. HP tends to reserve the “Elite” branding for its business and commercial products.

Perhaps that means the upcoming HP Omni 10 is a consumer tablet running Windows 8 or Windows RT. Or maybe I’m misreading the tea leaves.
