Fujitsu’s latest ultrabook is one of the company’s first to feature a 4th-generation Intel Core processor. The Lifebook U554 has a 13.3 inch display and supports up to an Intel Core i5 Haswell processor.

Intel did introduce another Haswell ultrabook recently — the Lifebook UH90/L is a premium model with a 14 inch, 3200 x 1800 pixel IGZO touchscreen display. The new Fujitsu Lifebook U554 has a less impressive 1366 x 768 pixel screen.

The notebook does have some premium touches though. It weighs just 3.5 pounds, measures about 0.7 inches thick, and supports Windows 8 Pro, optional 3G wireless, and a TPM security module.

While there’s no price listed on the Fujitsu product page for the Lifebook U554, the Fujitsu Shop in Poland lets you configure one yourself. A model with relatively basic specs comes out to about $1400. Fujitsu isn’t exactly known for making cheap laptops.

  1. Its more expensive than other 13.3 inch machine from other brand. According to Fujitsu, the machine boasts a 13.3 inch display, not 14 inch display.

    1. It should be cheap, its plastic and it only comes with a low end 1366×768 display :p

  2. “Fujitsu isn’t exactly known for making cheap laptops.”

They’re known for making laptops with cheap plastic cases and then charging the corporate suits who buy them an arm and a leg for TPM.

One would wish they’d change their evil ways, now that even Acer is making high quality cases…
