Asus hasn’t officially introduced a new 14 inch laptop called the VivoBook S451. But when the company offered to send an Asus S551 15.6″ ultrabook review unit to Hungarian blog Prohardvr, someone seems to have goofed and sent the unannounced 14 inch model instead.
Surprise! It looks like Asus has a new 14 inch notebook that’s almost an ultrabook.
The laptop has a 14 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Core i5-4200U Haswell processor with Intel HD 4400 graphics, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m discrete graphics card.
There’s also a DVD burner, a 750 GB hard drive, and 6GB of RAM (including 4GB which is soldered to the motherboard and a 2GB SODIMM).
Prohardvr notes that the review unit doesn’t appear to have a solid state cache disk, so technically it’s not an ultrabook. But it wouldn’t be hard to offer a configuration with the specs to meet Intel’s qualifications to wear the ultrabook name.
The laptop measures 0.8 inches thick, has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, and SD card reader, and Ethernet.
Asus hasn’t announced pricing for this model yet, and it’s not clear where or when it will be available.
