Archos is set to roll out a whole slew of new Android devices at the IFA trade show in Berlin next week. That includes new tablets with quad-core processors, high-resolution displays, and keyboard covers and a new flagship smartphone

The company also says that future plans include other connected objects, “including a unique Smart Watch concept.”

Archos phones and tablets

More details should be available soon, but here are some of the things Archos says we can expect:

Archos 50 Oxygen

The company’s new flagship smartphone features a 4.5 inch full HD IPS display, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of storage, a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Archos Platinum, Titanium smartphones

Archos also plans to offer a less expensive phones with prices starting at 99 Euros, or about $131 for a 4 inch phone with a dual-core processor, dual SIM card slots, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera.

Archos 101xs2

The first Gen11 tablet from Archos looks a lot like last year’s Archos 101 Gen 10 xs, but it has a quad-core processor instead of dual-core, an IPS display instead of MVA, and stereo speakers instead of a mono speaker. There may be other changes as well, but that’s all Archos is saying for now.

Like its predecessor, the new model is a 10 inch Android tablet with a keyboard that also functions as a protective cover when you’re not using it to type.

Archos Platinum tablets

The new Platinum line of tablets feature quad-core processors, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software, and high-resolution displays. At least one model will have a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel display.

Archos ChildPad tablets

Archos is expanding its line of kid-friendly tablets. In addition to the current 7 inch model, it looks like we can expect 8 and 10 inch models called the Archos 80 ChildPad and Archos 101 ChildPad, respectively.

Both will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and feature the Google Play Store, but with filters to keep kids from accessing inappropriate content and parental control software.

Archos GamePad 2

Kid-friendly tablets aren’t the only themed models. Archos is also working on a next-generation GamePad tablet which will have video game controller buttons built into the sides of the case around the display.

Archos Xenon tablets

Platinum isn’t the element in the Archos periodic table. The company also has 3 Xenon tablets with HD screens, multi-core processors and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

While Archos is generally known for offering inexpensive tablets, the company specifically says these models will offer 3G capabilities for less than the price of an Apple or Samsung WiFi-only tablet.

One reply on “Archos updates its tablet, smartphone lineup ahead of IFA 2013”

  1. Glad i didn’t jump on their earlier phone offerings, as this sound a bit more interesting (and pricier, as storage is usually the place you find companies skimping to keep the price low these days).
