Samsung’s Galaxy Note II has been available in the US since August, sporting a 5.5 inch touchscreen display, a Samsung Exynos 4 quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM.
While the company’s expected to introduce a new Galaxy Note III soon, it looks like Samsung may not be done with the Note II just yet. A new model showed up in China recently, sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor.
The new chip is the same one found in the HTC One, some Samsung Galaxy S4 models, and some of other fastest phones on the market in 2013. In other words, it’s a welcome addition to a phone which was pretty zippy last year, but which is starting to look a little dated.
The rest of the Galaxy Note II’s specs remain unchanged, including the 5.5 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel Super AMOLED display, 8MP rear camera, and 1.9MP front-facing camera. The phone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, features Samsung’s S-Pen digital pen for writing and drawing, and packs a 3100mAh battery.
It’s not clear if we’ll ever see this model outside of China, but it’s expected to be available soon for China Mobile wireless customers.
