Who says smartphones have to be cellular phones? Not Panasonic. The company has just introduced a home phone with a 3.5 inch touchscreen display an Android 4.0 software.

The Panasonic KX-PRX120 has all the basic features of an Android phone, but it’s meant for use around the house — not on the go.

Panasonic KX-PRX120

Panasonic’s phone is a digital cordless (DECT) phone with WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS capabilities.

It has 3.5 inch TFT 320 x 480 pixel LCD display with a capacitive multitouch panel. Thee’s a 0.3MP front-facing camera which you can use to make video calls.

The phone has a microSD card slot, a micro USB charging port, and a 1450mAh battery.

The Panasonic KX-PRX120 ships with access to the Google Play Store, which means you can download and install virtually any app available for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It’s not clear what kind of processor the phone has, or how much RAM or storage. Judging by the display, it’s not exactly a high-end Android device.

But if you’ve still got a land line and you’re in a country where DECT phones are supported (mostly in Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia), it’s nice to have options for more versatile in-home phones.

  1. I can totally see someone mistaking this for a cell phone and leaving the house with it instead……ooops lol.

  2. Well, fmho, correct pricing is the key here. DECT is supported in my country but we also have more smartphones than land lines so not sure where Panasonic aiming. I’ll be happy to hear some ideas what to do with the GPS support. Pretty much know my way at my 3 bedroom apartment.

    1. 🙂 I am sure you do. well maybe you can take it outdoors occasionally for some trekking/hiking/car nav or something, if you don’t have anything else to use…
