HTC is updating its Butterfly smartphone with a new model that’s a lot like the company’s current flagship phone, the HTC One. But the HTC Butterfly S has a slightly larger screen and a much larger battery than the HTC One.

HTC Butterfly S

The new handset sports a 5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel Super LCD 3 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It has a microSD card slot, an HTC UltraPixel camera on the back, and a 2.1MP camera on the front. There are also stereo speakers facing the front of the device.

While the HTC One sports a 2300mAh battery, the company takes advantage of the larger case on this model to pack a 3200mAh battery.

The HTC Butterfly S supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 and works on UMTS/HSPA networks.

One thing it doesn’t have is support for 4G LTE. That’s not a big surprise, since it’s initially launching in Asia in July. Hopefully the phone will pick up LTE support if and when it makes it to the US.

  1. According to the HTC website it also has support for consumer infrared remote control. 🙂

    1. Now THAT is pretty awesome. If nothing else, it would be fun to fix TVs in waiting rooms with the ‘fat people’ problem. Nobody ever sets em up to display square pixels.
