The Asus Transformer Book TX300CA-DH71 is a notebook with a 13.3 inch display and an Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor. It’s also a 13.3 inch tablet — all you have to do is lift the screen away from the keyboard to use the Windows 8 computer in tablet mode.selling for $1450 and up.
The Transformer Book has an Intel Core i7-3517U dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB solid state disk. It features a 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD display and Intel HD graphics.
The tablet portion of the laptop measures 13.4″ x 8.4″ x 0.4″ and weighs about 2.1 pounds. That makes it kind of hefty for a tablet. But if you’re looking for something larger and more powerful than the Clover Trail-based Windows 8 tablets flooding the market this year, the Transformer Book might fit the bill.
When you combine the keyboard and tablet to make a laptop, the system measures 13.3″ x 9.4″ x 1″ and weighs 4.2 pounds.
In laptop mode, you also get an extra battery, a 500GB hard drive, and extra ports, as well as backlit keyboard and nice big touchpad.
Engadget reviewed the computer recently and came away reasonably impressed by everything but the price (and the idea of launching an Ivy Bridge-powered computer just weeks before Intel’s Haswell chips are expected to launch).
