Asus may already be preparing to launch a follow-up to the MeMO Pad ME301T tablet which launched just a few months ago. A new tablet called the Asus K005 showed up at the FCC website this week, and judging by the label drawing, it appears to be a 10 inch tablet.

The same tablet has been showing up at regulatory bodies elsewhere in the world, and the folks at VR-Zone in Taiwan seem to think they have a good idea of what to expect from this tablet.

Asus K005

According to VR-Zone, the Asus K005 is the same tablet that up until recently we were calling the Asus MeMO Pad ME302KL.

If that’s true, then the tablet is expected to have a 10 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, Adreno 320 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and at least 16GB of storage.

It’s said to measure 0.4 inches thick and weigh 1.3 pounds, have front and rear cameras, a 5050mAh battery, and feature WiFi, Bluetooth, and optional cellular 3G or 4G.

The last bit is in keeping with what we’ve seen from the FCC and NCC. Asus seems to be seeking WiFi, Bluetooth, and GSM/WCDMA/LTE certification for the K005 tablet.

I suspect we’ll hear more about this model once Computex begins in a few weeks.

      1. Sorry, didnt mean to accuse you for the mistranslation. Not really your fault. It’s sort of confusing since their Chinese-language division is named “vr-zone Chinese Language”, not mentioning anything about Taiwan, though the whole division itself is based in Taiwan. When they were naming the division, the lead editor, the same guy that wrote your reference article, decided not to use Taiwan but “Chinese Language” since their targeted readers were also out side the country. Funny thing is when you put that name in Google Translate, or whatever translator, it’ll show up as “Chinese” or “China”, instead of specifying it as the “Chinese Language”, making it appear to be a China-based site. I wouldn’t expect any non-Chinese-speaking readers to be able to differentiate them though. And it bothers us the Taiwanese when that happens, cuz we are that petty lol

        1. No problem… I didn’t feel accused. I was just glad someone corrected me while I was around so I could update the post as quickly as possible. 🙂
