The Nokia Lumia 521 is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 phone from Nokia to date. It goes on sale this weekend for just $150, and that’s the price without a contract.
There are a few caveats. First, the phone will only work with T-Mobile’s network. Second, you’ll have to buy the Lumia 521 from HSN if you want it this weekend.
It’ll go on sale at Microsoft and Walmart next month, with T-Mobile to stock it in stores soon as well.
The Nokia Lumia 521 features a 4 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, a 1 GHz dual-core processor, and a 5MP camera.
As a T-Mobile exclusive, the Lumia 521 will support that carrier’s 4G HSPA+ network, but it doesn’t support 4G LTE.
If you pick up the phone from Walmart, it’s eligible for a $30 per month contract-free plan with unlimited web and texting (but only 100 minutes of talk time).
I know the phone here in the US will work with T-mobile only . my question is since this phone is GSM will it work overseas for example Jerusalem?
great features for the price. will be a strong contender for the next phone!
Some interesting pricing going on with Nokia from a global perspective. Both the Nokia Lumia 521 and the Nokia 301 S40 feature phone are ~150$US off-contract. I wonder how many consumers are evaluating them both (my guess: very few.)
I think that should be a Windows Phone 8 phone, rather than a Windows 8 phone. The OS it is running is Windows Phone 8. I wish Microsoft would stop trying to hoodwink everyone by making it look like this OS is related to the Windows 8 for x86 based computers. You can’t take a program that runs on this phone and run that same program on a computer running x86 Windows
