Samsung likes to describe its Exynos 5 Octa processor as an 8-core chip. And technically, it is. But it actually has 4 ARM Cortex-A15 chips and 4 lower-power ARM Cortex-A7 chips. Most of the time you’ll only use one set or the other.

So now that the first benchmark results are in, it’s not surprising to see that the Exynos 5 Octa is fast. But it turns out that it might not be quite as fast (in at least one benchmark test) as NVIDIA’s upcoming Tegra 4 quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 chip.
