Intel Celeron logoWithout much fanfare, Intel has added a new ultra low voltage chip to its lineup. The Intel Celeron 1019Y is an Ivy Bridge chip with a TDP of just 10W.

The new processor is a 22nm, 64-bit dual-core chip with a clock speed of 1 GHz. It supports up to 32GB of DDR3-1600 MHz memory and has Intel HD graphics with a base frequency of 350 MHz and a max frequency of 800 MHz.

Intel’s new chip doesn’t have some features you’d find in higher-end chips, such as support for turbo boost or hyperthreading. But it does have built-in support for virtualization.

Don’t expect the Celeron 1019Y to show up in dirt cheap notebooks. It has a suggested price of $153, which means it probably won’t be powering $200 laptops anytime soon. But it is a lower cost alternative to Intel’s Core i3 or faster chips.
